Your experience will go something like this …..

You’ll rendezvous at the start time in the barn. After letting yourself in you’ll wander past the stable doors, past inquisitive noses, you’ll probably stop and say hello, want to pat them (or not) and then make your way to the refreshments table and round up area. You’ll find the croissants and coffee (Earl Grey tea and gluten free muffins if you prefer) find a bale of hay to sit on and wait for everyone to assemble with the horses munching softly over your shoulder.

You’ll meet me and the team, I’ll make my introductions and then we’ll begin.

No-one needs to have any previous experience with horses. We’ll sit around getting used to being close to them. You can ask me questions about how you feel about working with horses. We’ll also explore your teams expectations for the sessions.

Then I will let the horses introduce themselves to you and I’ll help you feel comfortable being around them. You’ll do this one at a time in a way that helps you feel confident being around them.

You don’t need to worry about riding or anything like that as all the interacting with the horses will take place on the ground.

We might interact with the horses in the barn, stable, arena or field. You will be coached as things move along as we design and set up exercises, games, tasks around and with the horses. You might be coached individually and/or corporately whilst playing with the horses or afterwards in a “time out”.

What happens and comes up will be entirely determined between you and the horses. They’ll feel for who you are and respond to you in a true and non judgemental and authentic way.

There will be lots time on your feet moving around with the horses, sometimes you will be sat out watching others in your team work with the horses. Then there will be whole group circle time for sharing, de-briefing and feedback.

There’s also plenty of space to go and sit away by yourself from the action to reflect and contemplate too or just to enjoy the view.

You will be outside in the fresh air, there will be birds singing in the trees, all the smells of hay and a horse barn surrounding you and who knows what weather might shine on you!

From feedback over the years, here’s a list of some of the things you can expect to get from working with the horses;

  • You can expect to be totally absorbed in the moment when you are with the horses.
  • You can expect to be touched emotionally by how they connect and relate to you.
  • You will feel a great sense of satisfaction as your confidence and competence communicating with them develops.
  • You can expect the unexpected to be drawn out of you.
  • You can expect to become aware of things you didn’t previously know about yourself. Maybe it will be behaviours, beliefs, thinking, fears or ways of relating.
  • You can expect much of all stress and static head noise of everyday life to go when you are with them.
  • You can expect the experience to leave a profound and long lasting effect on you.
  • You can expect to enjoy the experience more than you anticipated.
  • You can expect there to be a buzz in the team about what just happened.
  • You can expect to gain a new appreciating for horses and possibly a love for them.

If that sounds just like what you are looking for then I’d love to talk to you about how I can help you get out and amongst horses.
